Waikato Young Professionals (WYP) is a network for early-career individuals across the Waikato region. We bring together people from a range of industries to connect, learn, and support each other through events, mentoring, and professional development. Whether you're starting out or looking to meet others in the area, WYP is here to help you build your career and community.
What types of events does WYP host?
We host a range of events designed to connect and support young people in their careers. Our calendar balances networking and social settings, educational events for professional and personal development, and wellbeing activities. These events offer a relaxed and welcoming environment to meet others, share ideas, and learn from local leaders across different industries
Do I have to work for a particular industry?
Not at all. Waikato Young Professionals is open to individuals from all industries and career paths. Whether you’re in business, trades, the arts, education, health, tech, or anything in between, you’re welcome here. Our strength is in our diversity—connecting people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

THE LIFE OF A YOUNG PROFESSIONAL - WYP ANNUAL BALL 2025
The Waikato Young Professionals Ball is back, and this year it’s bigger, bolder, and designed for you. Step into the night of the life of a young professional where ambition meets celebration, and good company meets a great night out. Think elegance, live music, prosecco, and a room full of Waikato’s best and brightest.
When: Saturday 4 October 2025
Time: 7PM – 11PM
Where: The Atrium, Wintec City Campus, Hamilton
What to expect:
A complimentary prosecco on arrival, to start the night with a sparkle.
Canapés served throughout the night, not too heavy and not too light.
Live music entertainment to keep the energy alive.
Designated game area, because who doesn’t love a tipsy game of giant Jenga?!
Capture the night with our photo booth and photographer because nights like these deserve more than just a blurry selfie.
Dress Code: Black Tie Optional — with a nod to vintage elegance encouraged.
